Term 3 - Week 3 Wool Mandalas

This week we made wool mandalas using chopsticks and scrap wool.

Everyone worked really well, (and quietly) and the results were some fantastic artworks. Well done everyone.

Next week we are making newspaper kites.

Children's Book Week Display

Last week we had fun making a display for Children's Book Week.

Children's book week is run each year in August by the Children's Book Council of Australia.

Each year a pannel of judges from all over Australia choose the finalists and winners in each category. The Fiction Judging Panel for the Picture Book, Early Childhood, Younger Reader and Older Reader categories is made up of eight judges, one elected by each state or territory Branch. The Eve Pownall Award for Information Books is judged by a panel of between three and four judges. Thw winners are anounced in book week.

This year book week is August 16th - 22nd, 2014

Each year a theme is chosen for book week. This year's theme is :

CONNECT TO READING - READING TO CONNECT

This year’s Children’s Book Week artwork has been created by Ron Brooks, winner of the 2013 Picture Book of the Year Award. We used Ron's poster an inspiration for our recycled display.
We used old book pages and coloured paper to make paper chains. We had a guessing competition to see who could guess how long our paper chain would be. It was 23 metre long!
We also made paper dolls (with books) and paper circles.

The display looks great. Well done everyone!
