FREE FAMILY EVENT COMING UP IN SCIENCE WEEK

Manly Council is proud to host a FREE ‘National Science Week’ opening event: The Human Story - from the Big Bang to the age of the Internet.
Science isn’t about equations and boring numbers. It is about piecing together the fantastic puzzle that is the human story.
It began around 13.6 billion years ago and includes unbelievable events that unfortunately most people never hear about.

Join the founder of ‘TechScience Australia’ at Manly Library for a  exciting and FREE one-hour presentation.
Two sessions available on Wednesday 19/08/2015 at Manly Library:
·         5:00pm family friendly event for all ages 6+
·         7:00pm – adults session suitable for curious minds over the age of 15.

The fascinating and interactive presentation will cover the following topics:
·         The Big Bang and our expanding universe
·         The formation of our solar system
·         Origin of life on Earth
·         Could there be Alien life in the universe?
·         Genetics, Evolution and mass extinctions
·         Human ancestors
·         From caves to iPads
·         The human fate

Mr. Carmel, local Manly resident and father of two boys, was inspired by his children to set up ‘TechScience Australia’ and spread the love of Science to the community. “It is the most important story ever told that answers the deepest questions that engaged humans for hundreds of thousands of years – Where do we come from? What is our place in the universe?  Are we alone? Any curious mind at any age would enjoy it,” said Mr Carmel, a keen proponent and promoter of science and technology.
His background includes over 20 years of teaching and training experience and formal studies in Business, IT, Digital Era Philosophy and postgraduate studies in Computer Science in Sydney Uni.

Now entering its fifteenth year, National Science Week is proudly supported by the Australian Government, as well as partners CSIRO, Australian Science Teachers Association and the ABC.
National Science Week 2015 will run from 15-23 August. Event details can be found at www.scienceweek.net.au
